Soil-Borne Arthropod and Invertebrate Habitat Suitability Analysis
The California All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory attempts to catalog all of the endemic species of California in an attempt to preserve a record of the state’s rich biodiversity.
Field teams collect soil samples in an effort to capture and document soil arthropod and invertebrate lifeforms and deliver those samples for processing at the Biorepository in Berkeley, CA. In order to improve soil sample quality (the likelihood that they contain soil-borne biota) and reduce lab processing time, a Habitat Suitability Analysis was conducted to assess and score regions within Mendocino National Forest that are permitted for sampling under the project.
